DUNK:
All of our records are special to us, but this one is extra special in the way it came about. We first worked with Tom and the band in 2023 when they pressed their debut album “The Night is for Dreamers” at dunk!pressing. Our project manager at the plant was legitimately impressed by the project and passed the test pressings on to us. When we heard it we knew we had something very special in our hands, a true diamond in the rough of post-rock.
It was too late to properly release it on the label, but the band and A Cheery Wave Records generously allowed us to distribute it in Europe. When we saw your reaction to the record we knew we had them to invite them to the festival. And the rest is history as they say…
What you’ll hear on this record is that performance in full. It brims with so much cheerfulness and joy that you really can’t help but smile when you listen to it. And bang your head of course as the band is one that goes heavy on stage! This release is in honour to this friendship, and in a way, we finally get to release this album on vinyl!
On their dreamy debut album “The Night is for Dreamers” Din of Celestial Birds showcased their full potential as one of the most exciting new faces in the European post-rock scene. Alternating gentle crescendos and roaring climaxes, the British quintet deliver a classic post-rock album of exquisite workmanship, worthy of the giants of the genre. There’s also a subtle nod to heavier bands such as Russian Circles and Pelican on some of these riffs, like the hypnotic syncopated mid-section of “Laureate of American Lowlife”. The addition of spoken word samples completes a package that is both thrilling in its sense of novelty and comforting in its aura of familiarity. “The Night Is For Dreamers” doesn’t exactly reinvent the post-rock wheel, but provides a refreshing and memorable listen. Everything is executed tastefully, leaving the listener in awe and devotion. A true post-rock gem which we were happy to bring out of the darkness thanks to our pressing plant and the band of course.
This live album collects most of the songs on that album and reintroduces them in the glorious setting of the Balzaal, our dancy-est and most electrifying stage! This album will make you jump, headbang, air guitar or… whatever you do when you enjoy our music! Just go as hard as the band and… enjoy!
