Mourir

It was winter 2016 in Toulouse, when Olivier Lolmède, then bassist with Plebeian Grandstand, recorded a 5-track album for an intimate release on bandcamp and a limited series of cassettes. The ‘Vermine’ project, a one-man black metal band, was born.

Encouraged by the enthusiastic response, the project evolved into a full band and became the quartet ‘Mourir’. ‘Animal Bouffe Animal’, the band’s first EP, was released in 2020 by Throatruiner.

It will be followed by the band’s first concerts in France and then by their first album, in 2022: ‘Disgrâce’ is distributed in Europe by Throatruiner and in North America by Total Dissonance Worship. The album was followed by a French tour, during which Mourir shared the stage with bands such as Fange and Imperial Triumphant.

In 2024, the band changed bassists and returned to the studio to record the Insolence EP. They then joined the roster of the prestigious Berlin label Pelagic Records, who will release Insolence at the end of January 2025.
Mourir will be back on tour in winter 2025, playing dates across France, Belgium and the Netherlands in support of their new EP. They will be presenting their new tracks in a frontal, hypnotic set. Influenced by the Norwegian wave as well as the more dissonant approach of their compatriots, their vision of black metal remains faithful to the precepts of the genre while incorporating modern elements.
