Description
Issue two of Slowpoke has been built around the theme “work in progress”. The zine itself is a work in progress, and the contents of it have been shaped around contributors exploring this concept from a variety of angles. The cover art is by Thomas Hooper, a visual artist who welcomes trial and error in his paintings and isn’t afraid to take the long way round to get to where he’s going. Elsewhere there is a series of photo essays that capture work in progress in a very literal sense from various creative folk including Emma Ruth Rundle, Craig Murray and Ethan Lee McCarthy. Thanks to Kimothy Hoorweg, Scott Evans, Sam An and others, there are interviews, personal essays and creative writing – and hopefully an opportunity to consider the many avenues and opportunities that being “in progress” can open up.
The painting on the cover was created specifically for the zine – with huge thanks to Thomas Hooper.
Slowpoke #2 features words, wisdom, photos, scribbles, and insight from the following people:
Aaron Turner
Becky Laverty
Craig Murray
Dawn Moraga & Tim Lusk (Cor de Lux)

It is printed in full colour in the UK – 52 pages on 170gsm paper, with 250gsm soft touch laminate cover. It looks fancy, basically, but its heart remains well and truly in the underground.
Slowpoke is a zine and a weekly newsletter published by Becky Laverty – a recovering publicist, a booker at Roadburn festival, a life long music lover, and an incessant asker of the question “why?”
