FRICTION FEST - the name says it all: our mission is to create friction between different genres and styles of music, mainly within the rock realm, but open in any possible direction. We aim to establish an international forum for bands and artists who are committed to exploring new sounds and taking things one step further than your average rock or metal band. In doing so, we intend to set a counterpoint to the prevalent festival routines which perpetuate musical boredom and mediocrity by offering only bands from a very narrow musical spectre.
FRICTION FEST, instead, is a festival for music lovers - for people who love the Cocteau Twins as much as the Swans or Napalm Death. A spirit of daringness and willingness to experiment and push boundaries is the leitmotif that unites all artists performing at FRICTION FEST and ourselves, the promoters. However, we never want to forget where we come from: the glorious land of rock n’ roll, home of the riff!

The pressing is strictly limited to 300 copies on white vinyl, the first 150 of which come with a special silk screen poster designed by Gerd Kornmann (only direct sales through our shop). NEBRA is a swiss powerhouse hailing from the rock city of Geneva, featuring ex- and current members of KNUT and MUMAKIL. Their 5-song EP entitled “SKY DISC” will be released on June 5fth (Europe) through PELAGIC RECORDS. We will take preorders very soon.
NEBRA construct the sonic image of a nuclear-powered icebreaker: ear-bludgeoning walls of guitars, a pounding, percussive rhythm section creating massive groove, relentless musical precision and a perfect, spot-on production. NEBRA is instrumental. 5 heavy yet catchy tunes for fans of CRAW, KEELHAUL, ISIS, MASTODON and THE MELVINS.
The EP will be mastered at Cutting Room in Stockholm. Artwork will be provided by SELDON HUNT (Isis, Neurosis). The EP comes in a slick digipak packaging, including silver ink and a 3 inch CD with plastic frame.

We’re gonna wrap up the ‘Precambrian’ touring cycle with one final tour in February / March, and then it’s time for starting to work on a new album… oh yes, boys and girls. For this final tour, we’re happy to have BURST aboard as co-headliners. BURST have just released an amazing new album. We’ve been wanting to make this tour happen for a long time, so happy days! Support will come from Vancouver’s BISON b.c. and Finland’s MEDEIA, a side-project of Keijo from Rotten Sound. Check the tour section for dates.
