PELAGIC RECORDS to release Zatokrev’s “The Bat, The Wheel…” album on vinyl!

“Zatokrev are finally getting the recognition they so deserve. After supporting Crowbar, Baroness, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Napalm Death, Orange Goblin, Type O Negative, Machine

Head, A Storm Of Light, Amen Ra, Alcest and many others over the years, the Swiss qua

rtett is now playing 2 exclusive shows with NEUROSIS this July.

The new album is somewhere between sludge, stoner, black metal, prog, doom, psychedelic rock and post hardcore, and showcases more dynamics in song writing and a larger variety of vocal styles.

The CD was released on Candelelight Records, who describe Zatokrev as "one of the most forward-thinking and crushing bands in extreme music", and we can only agree. PELAGIC now brings you the vinyl version, a 2xLP on clear wax in a gatefold sleeve, limited to 300 copies.

UPDATE ON THE OCEAN – “Pelagial” BOXSETS

2013-05-20 18.12.02

We know you guys are eagerly awaiting your box sets, so here's an update for you:

The box sets have taken a long time to clear customs, but have finally arrived in Berlin on My 17th. We are currently packing the CD boxes and preparing them for shipping, which will happen between May 27th and May 30th… so you can expect them to arrive very soon!

If you have ordered the vinyl box set, we are sorry to say that these will take a little longer, still. The acrylic layers have been covered on both sides with protective paper, which we had to peel off by hand, in order to be able to print them. This is taking an awful lot of time (500 vinyl box sets > 3.000 layers), as the paper has been laser-cut to the shape of the layers, and does not come off easily. We have been working on this every day this week, with up to 10 people at the same time, armed with hair driers and lots of patience… thanks to all our lovely PELAGIC helpers, we have now peeled off the paper from half of the layers and are expecting to have them all clean and ready to print by early next week.

Then, however, each layer will still need to be screen-printed by hand, re-packed and shipped. We are, realistically, not expecting this to be done before 1st or 2nd week of June, unfortunately. Please be sure that we are doing our best to get you your box sets as soon as physically possible! We hope these pictures give you an idea of the whole situation… in addition to that, some of the larger (vinyl) boxes have been damaged, and we are currently sorting out getting replacements for these from the manufacturing company.

If you do not want to wait and wish to cancel your preorder, we will fully reimburse you. Please email shop@pelagic-records.com. We currently have a waiting list of 80 people who would be keen to get a hand on one , so we really don't mind.

So not much left to say, except: this has turned into a very difficult, time-consuming and nerve-wrecking project, but we are sure it will be worth it in the end!!! The CD box sets look amazing, check out the pictures.

cheers, and please bear with us…

The PELAGIAL box sets have not been shipped yet! We are still waiting for the box sets to arrive. They are expected to clear customs this week and we will start packing and shipping on Friday, as soon as they arrive. This may take a while though, as it's close to 1400 preorders… so you can expect it end of May (Europe) or beginning of June (overseas)... please bear with us, it will be worth the wait. Everyone should have received their download codes by now; if you haven't please email shop@pelagic-records.com and we will sort you out instantly.

cheers!

NEW: EF – “Morning Golden Mourning” (2x LP) in stock!

EF_morning_cover

One of the amazing things about Swedish instrumentalists EF is that they are sweet and heavy at the same time; that they can win over an indie or post-rock crowd as much as a metal crowd. EF's 3rd and latest full length release. 2nd edition, the first one is already sold out. If you loved "Delusions of Grandeur", you will surely dig this album as well... epic, lenghty compositions, unrivalled atmospheric density, outstanding songwriting... for fans of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy you... but EF really are a league of their own.

THE OCEAN to release new album Pelagial end of April!

After 2 years of relentless touring in North America, Europe, Russia, China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Australia, The Ocean have resurfaced with what could be their deepest and most trailblazing piece of work to date, Pelagial: a progressive musical journey, written, recorded, mixed and to-be-performed-live as one single 53-minutes piece of music. Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Witchcraft) at Fascination Street Studios in Örebrö, Sweden, Pelagial is set to be released on April 26th / 29th (Europe) and April 30th (North America / world) through Metal Blade Records.

Pelagial will be released as a 2xCD, including a vocal and an instrumental version of the album. The CD version (on Metal Blade Records) comes in a 10-panel digipak with epic artwork by

Seldon Hunt (see mockup below). The vinyl version (Pelagic Records) consists of four 10" EPs in various vinyl colours and styles, packed into 2 gatefolds.

COILGUNS to release debut album “Commuters” in February

Swiss trio Coilguns are set to release their debut album "Commuters" on February 22nd (GAS) and February 25th (rest of Europe). CD and LP with silk-screened cover artwork are available now for preorder, check the shop page!

"Commuters" was entirely recorded live, every song in one take. The incorporation of synths and more guitar and bass loops has added more depth to their original punky yet heavy sound. Some tracks on the album are featuring up to 5 guitar players at the same time. No overdubs or edits have been made on this record except for the vocals.

Coilguns have been pushing their boundaries to find a unique and most certainly odd sound, and by simplifying their songwriting, they've intensified and emphasized their heavyness.

Here's a video trailer:

The band will be on tour in February to support the release. Here's the facebook events page:
