THE OCEAN - new video
THE OCEAN has launched a brand new video for "Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish in Dreams" from their most recent album, "Pelagial." The video was directed by Alexander Kraudelt and Lukas Hambach, produced by Frameshock, with additional visuals by Craig Murray."Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish in Dreams" is streaming now on metalblade.com/theocean.
Guitarist and founding member Robin Staps comments: "This clip is blending performance footage with excerpts from Craig Murray's 'Pelagial' movie, which was released along with the limited edition CD and vinyl boxset versions of the album. We've never really done a clip like that before, but it was great fun making this."
The video clip has been instantly censored by Youtube, so we switched to Vimeo. A few split seconds of nudity and the world loses their minds, while on the same site you can spend hours watching car accidents and MMA dismemberments as well as actually really horrible stuff. Oh well.

Last minute US headline shows & NYC meet & greet
We have added a number of last minute US headline shows on the Summer Slaughter off days.
The dates are as follows:
28.07. USA New Orleans, LA - Circle Bar
05.08. USA Hartfort, CT - Webster Underground
15.08. USA Omaha, NE - Club Antares
21.08. CAN Vancouver, BC - Biltmore Cabaret
On August 6th, we will all be hanging out at Saint Vitus bar in Brooklyn, where we played a great show in 2011 with support from FAMILY and THE BINARY CODE, as some of you may remember. We are stoked to see these 2 awesome bands perform at St Vitus bar again on August 6th, as well as BLACK TABLE. Rumours have it that there is this band called "Pelagial" playing as well, we're very curious to find out what that is all about… we will all be there to sign whatever stuff you bring, preferably foreheads, melons or live animals, so come say hi if you're from the NYC area!

THE OCEAN: 'Pelagial' world tour part II: headline European tour with support from SHINING, TIDES FROM NEBULA and HACRIDE
'Pelagial', the latest album from THE OCEAN, has been received with open arms and ears across the globe – this is a band that are becoming widely regarded as leaders within their genre. Metal Sucks declared that The Ocean have "never written more intriguing music" in their 5/5 review. Spin recognised the band's diversity with "Mastodon‐shaped footprints, lush strings… [before] the submarine crashes at Melvins tempos". Decibel noted a band who have "become more luxurious, experimental and textural", Terrorizer heard an album "ambitious and adventurous", whilst Kerrang were bowled over by "melodrama, intimacy, grandeur, grace and big fucking riffs." RockARolla, bastions of taste at the experimental end of heavy music, emphasised how revered The Ocean currently are: "With Isis gone, no one has yet taken their place as intelligent and sensitive masters of post‐metal but, with this, there's no doubt that The Ocean are shoe‐ins for the title."
Diverse elements are honed and perfected on 'Pelagial', and this ethos is at the heart of the touring package for The Ocean's headline European tour. For an album that treads a wild and creative path within and outside of the supposed boundaries of metal, Norway's SHINING could not be a more appropriate addition to the touring bill. Their new album 'One One One' was recently released and it's direct and pulsating approach is gathering the same kind of response that saw 2010's 'Blackjazz' get rave reviews all over the world, with contemporaries such as Danko Jones and Mike Portnoy writing pieces praising the band. If you've seen them live then you'll know how good they are; if you've not, you need to! Poland's TIDES FROM NEBULA meanwhile have been mesmerising the underground and in 2013 they take a step up, releasing their new album via a brand new label. They bring postrock to this package, a welcome ingredient due to this genre touching aspects of 'Pelagial'. Finally, France's HACRIDE bring some serious, technical heaviness to the tour, as anyone who has heard their new album 'Back To Where You've Never Been' will testify.
